Our Beginnings...

Air America certainly has an interesting history. In 2008, with the fall of Royal Dutch Caribbean Airlines, Philip Andronicos and a friend leased a 727-200 aircraft from also now defunct ‘Falcon Air’ to retrieve passengers who were left on the ground in Haiti and Curacao. The success of this operation led to the continuing service MIA - PAP - CUR for nearly a year, renewing a contract with PLANET AIRWAYS, Philip Andronicos immediately opened an office in Curacao. This became very popular on the island until Planet Airways declared bankruptcy. Even today, if one looks in the right place, a PLANET AIRWAYS 727-200 can be seen gradually decaying on the ramp at PAP.

For lack of available aircraft Philip Andronicos decided to return to the business of Buying and Selling aircraft. In due course of time, due to the extreme rapport with Haitian Travel Agencies in Miami and surrounding areas, Philip Andronicos was urged to do something about the conditions that Haitian travelers were enduring to Cape Haitian on a 19 place aircraft with NO Toilet , NO food and NO beverages. This did not sit well with Philip Andronicos and after a detailed Route Survey Study, he found a SAAB 340 A to lease from BIA, 30 Seats, Toilet , Flight Attendant , and snack and beverage service thus forming the very beginnings of Air America.
